Hello You!

I want to officially welcome you to the I Run As Root community! My name is Dennis and I started I Run As Root about eight years ago with the idea of creating a place where people could learn, build, and collaborate on IT topics. Because life happens I wasn’t able to dedicate the time I wanted into building it. As random projects and needs came up at work I would build some of those solutions to share with the open source community. Fast forward eight years I now have a renewed interest in trying to build this community.

What does “I Run As Root” mean?

The phrase I Run As Root started out as a comical idiomatic expression; to be able to do take actions on Linux systems, like installing software, configuring settings, etc. all requires elevated root access to accomplish. However, over the years the meaning started to change for me; it was now symbolizing the ownership, responsibilities, and security of being a system administrator.

My Mission

My main goal is to share code, collaborate with others, share my knowledge and experiences, and maybe even learn something new from you! I want to work towards a common interest in IT and more specifically automation systems. So, I hope you will join me on this journey of automating everything!

Please feel free to contact me with ideas, questions, or even just to say hello!

I also started I Run As Root on Facebook, so feel free to visit there.

Finally, visit I Run As Root on GitHub for all the good stuff!
